Bridge over the canal to the cycle path heading to the River Nene.
Crossing the canal bridge brings you to a broad cycle path leading down towards the River Nene to the right . What looks like Spacecity in the next gallery is something at the rear of the Mahle Powertain building which I’d guess are fume extractors for engine test beds.
This broad cycle path runs from the canal brige to the blue painted footbridge over the River Nene in the disance.

A cock pheasant popped up to croak his displeasure as we passed by what was likely his nest.

This looks like an oil refinary but I think it is just a set of exhaust stacks for engine testing bays.

You can leave the cycle path here near KFC and the Nene Valley Retail Park.
Clicking the picture will take you to Google Streetview.
Alternately walk 100 yards towards KFC and rejoin the river cyclepath. Continue along the River to end up at South Bridge where the path ends but can be picked up again over the road where it continues on into Becket’s Park and beyond.

A view downstream to South Bridge. The various semi derelict barges were cleared from this stretch of river but they seem to be appearing again.

This is an additional group of swans. We have never seen so many on the river before.

The Beckets Park locks. The rusty structure behind them is a quite spectacular bridge running from the park to the UoN Riverside Campus.

A pretty spectacular construction across the river from Beckets park to the UoN Riverside Campus. I can't figure out how it stays up. Perhaps the council couldn't either as it has never been painted

This is the UoN Riverside Campus Energy building. A woodchip and gas burner produce hot water for heating the campus buildings. The sign is a giant Bladerunner style screen showing a variety of messages.

There is a footpath from the eastern side of the campus which passes Delapre Abbey grounds and the council Golf course to Hardingstone woods. We have walked this but not taken any photos.
